SATB divisi, 4’40”

This work is written for the special occasion of the University of Glasgow Chapel Choir’s summer solstice concert. Drawing inspiration from cherished hymn tunes such as Kelvingrove, Terra Beata, Sommarpsalm by Waldemar Åhlén, and William Henry Monk’s rendition of All Things Bright and Beautiful, I sought to create a musical landscape that reflects the essence of these timeless melodies while weaving in elements of my own experiences and influences in the short poem I wrote. This piece is a culmination of my deep admiration for hymnody and my personal journey, interlacing places in Scotland with the vibrant colours of Singaporean culture.
